Richmond’s Union Square Shopping Centre – AKA the bubble tea plaza – has been buzzing with excitement recently.
After a successful soft opening last week, Chayan, the London-based bubble tea brand, is now gearing up for its official grand opening.
And they’re celebrating in style—with a special buy one get one free promotion that’s sure to draw a line longer than what they’ve been seeing.
Over the long weekend, the line even stretched down the block, signaling that the bubble tea battle in Union Square—which has been dominated by MACU Tea for the last year—might finally have a new challenger.
Chayan is bringing a unique twist to Richmond’s bubble tea offerings, focusing on oriental teas inspired by China’s tea trends (think Chagee and Molly Tea) rather than the fruit teas and cream foam styles common in Vancouver.
Originating in London in 2023, Chayan made a name for itself there as the “Best Frappe in the UK” and “Best Milk Tea in the UK”.
For their grand opening on November 12th and 13th, Chayan will be offering a buy one get one free promotion to celebrate.
Each customer is limited to two free drinks, making it the perfect time to gather friends and sample more of their unique offerings.
Chayan’s menu stands out with options like their best-selling Black Tea Frappe, featuring Jinjunmei black tea with fresh milk, light whipped cream, and pecan chips for texture.
Their Chappucino line also brings an innovative twist to milk tea, blending the concept of a cappuccino with teas like Jasmine Green Tea.
The drinks are crafted using a high-tech teapresso machine—the same one used by HeyTea—which keeps the lines moving even during busy hours.
The shop will be welcoming customers from 12 PM to 8 PM for the grand opening, and it’s likely to draw a line as well.
So if you’re looking to try their tea creations, it’s best to head there early or be ready to brave the line.
