Sadly, one familiar shop for locals, Lu Charcoal Grill, is now up for sale.
Located on Leslie Road, the restaurant has been part of Richmond’s dining scene for about seven years.
It drew locals in with its charcoal-grilled skewers, self-serve selection of meats and vegetables, and Tianjin-style breakfast dishes for early risers.
Popular items included skewers of lamb, beef, chicken wings, seafood, and a wide range of vegetables, all grilled over real charcoal.
Diners also came for Northern Chinese hot dishes like lamb backbone stew and enjoyed the casual atmosphere that encouraged lingering late into the night.
It became a spot where you could grab a lamb skewer at lunch or settle in late at night with friends over beer and barbecue.
Over the years, it’s earned a loyal following.
On Google Reviews, it holds a 4.0-star rating, with many diners praising both the flavour and the late-night atmosphere.
According to the listing, the 2,030 sq.ft restaurant is fully equipped and versatile to be converted into another type of cuisine.
Rent is also described as very affordable for the size.
This may signify that the end of Lu Charcoal Grill may be near.
