Another longtime Richmond food court stall has quietly shut down.
A Noms Mag community member (jessho) spotted that Joyful Congee in Admiralty Centre food court has closed earlier this January.
And this time, it appears to be permanent.
Back in June 2025, there were rumours swirling that the owner was planning to close up shop.
But he seemed to push through and kept things running for a while longer.
That is no longer the case.
A local realtor has confirmed on Red Note that the unit has been sold, which means Joyful Congee is officially done.
If you never made it to this spot, you missed out on one of Richmond’s hidden gems.
The stall was known for serving affordable Cantonese congee, silky steamed rice noodle rolls, and crispy Chinese donuts.
It was the kind of no-frills place where regulars would pop in for a quick, warming bowl without thinking twice.
Nothing fancy, just good, honest food at honest prices.
The congee was smooth and well-seasoned, and the cheung fun came out fresh and soft.
Pair that with a golden, crispy you tiao and you had yourself a proper Cantonese breakfast for just a few dollars.
Joyful Congee had been operating in the food court since around 2018, which means it had a solid run of about seven to eight years.
Admiralty Centre itself is one of those malls that flies under the radar compared to places like Aberdeen Centre.
It does not get the same fanfare or foot traffic from visitors.
But locals who know Richmond well understand that Admiralty has some real gems tucked inside its small but reliable food court.
Joyful Congee was one of them.
As for what is taking over the space, that remains unknown for now.

Joyful Congee now joins a growing list of Richmond food spots that have closed recently like Bubble Waffle Cafe Parker, Villa Vietnamese, and Milko.
