Richmond has been the epicenter of change when it comes to its food scene lately.
There’s been a constant shuffle of new spots opening and others closing up shop.
Among all these shifts, we’ve spotted another surprising change!
Yummy Dumpling, located in the Continental Shopping Centre, has already been listed for sale just two months after opening.
We first spotted signs for Yummy Dumpling back in July, as they moved into the space formerly occupied by Hot Oden.
Given the branding similarities, it seemed likely that they are linked to the growing “Yummy” brand, which already includes Yummy Bao at Parker Place and Crystal Mall, as well as other Yummy Dumpling locations in Crystal Mall and Richmond Public Market.
The menu here is simple and straightforward, sticking to the classics that many people love: think pan-fried pork or beef dumplings, steamed buns, and frozen varieties for customers who want to bring some Yummy flavours home.
They even offered other Chinese street-style snacks like wonton soup, sweet or salty tofu pudding, and hot soya milk.
But despite what seemed like a promising addition to Richmond’s impressive roster of dumpling spots, it seems like this location didn’t quite pan out.
The listing comes as a bit of a shock, given that the place just opened a couple of months ago.
It’s another reminder of just how tough the food industry can be, especially in a market as dynamic as Richmond.
For those following developments at the Continental Shopping Centre, it seems the changes won’t stop with Yummy Dumpling.
Snackshot is expected to arrive at the plaza next year, keeping things lively and giving food lovers another reason to visit.
