In Richmond, itโ€™s sadly not rare to hear about a car driving into a building.

But one incident that stood out happened back in early 2023, when a Tesla slammed into the corner Chung Chun Korean Rice Hot Dog shop on No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway.

The crash sent a 46-year-old staff to the hospital with serious injuries, and photos of the car fully lodged into the eatery circulated quickly online.

An โ€œNโ€ sign was on the Tesla.

Police later confirmed that the driver was a 20-year-old and that drugs or alcohol were not considered factors in the crash.

Since then, the unit has sat closed.

For many locals, it was assumed the shop would eventually return after renovations.

But 1.5 years later, it looks like that wonโ€™t be happening.

We recently spotted a large “For Lease” sign posted on the unitโ€™s window, confirming that the Richmond location of Chung Chun will not be reopening.

This location first opened back in 2021 and was the chainโ€™s first outpost in Richmond.

Chung Chun is well-known across the world for its Korean rice hot dogs, offering options coated in ramen bits, potatoes, cheese, and more.

Now that the unit is up for lease, itโ€™s unclear whether another operator might revive the same concept or if something completely new will take its place.
