Huh? Richmond Hot Pot Restaurant Spotted For Sale On Facebook Marketplace

It’s not every day you see a hot pot restaurant listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

But that’s exactly what one Noms Mag community member (@antfunni) stumbled upon earlier this month.

And the listing definitely raised more than a few eyebrows.

The Richmond listing featured a fully renovated hot pot restaurant located on Alexandra Road.

It mentioned nearby hotels, new renovations, and included basic equipment.

The asking price? Just $60,000.

Considering it’s a large unit on Alexandra Road – aka one of Richmond’s busiest food corridors – that price felt incredibly low.

The restaurant in question was none other than Round Pot, a hot pot spot that just opened back in November 2023.

Round Pot specializes in this Golden Soup Collagen Chicken Hot Pot, a slow-simmered Guangdong-Hong Kong–style broth rich in collagen and known for its supposed beauty and health benefits.

The brand leaned heavily into freshness and authenticity, with an 8-hour simmered soup base as its heart.

But the economy has been brutal for restaurants – especially in competitive markets like Richmond, where hot pot spots seem to open (and close) every season.

Their last Instagram post from March 24 showed a shift to an All-You-Can-Eat Fish Maw Chicken Hot Pot, which mirrors what many other hot pot places in the city have done to stay afloat.

So when Round Pot confirmed with Noms Magazine that the Facebook listing was real, it was both shocking and oddly validating.

And now, if you swing by the same Alexandra Road address, Round Pot is nowhere to be found.

Taking its place is a new spot called Bon Pot, which continues the slow-cooked hot pot concept with new owners and a new brand identity.

According to their Chinese social media page, Bon Pot quietly launched on April 28.

Will Bon Pot manage to thrive where Round Pot couldn’t?

Only time will tell, but it’s another reminder of how quickly the food scene in Richmond continues to evolve.
