Sometimes, 15 years of showing up every day still isn’t enough to keep the doors open.
My Coffee, a fixture in Lansdowne Centre’s food court for more than a decade and a half, has permanently closed.
The Richmond shop posted a closure announcement on its storefront last week, confirming the news, and the reason behind it is the part that stings.
“Despite being a reliable tenant for many years, our lease was not renewed,” the letter reads.

That means this wasn’t a decision they made.
It was one made for them.
The closure took effect at the end of February.
We visited the mall this past weekend and confirmed the shop is now closed, with the space sitting empty.

The closure announcement didn’t just address customers.
It also acknowledged what happens to the people behind the counter when a lease doesn’t get renewed.
“We sincerely hope that affected team members will be able to find new employment opportunities soon,” the letter read.

That line is easy to read past, but it represents real people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
The mall has gone through plenty of changes over the years, but its looming redevelopment hasn’t quite scared new spots moving into Lansdowne.
For instance, Cotti Coffee recently opened its first Richmond outpost beside T&T Supermarket.
Meanwhile, Baskin-Robbins and One Cafe are slated to open in the mall.
But there’s a difference between a spot closing after a year and one disappearing after 15.
No details have been shared about what will take over the space or whether My Coffee has plans to reopen elsewhere.
My Coffee now joins other recently closed food spots in Richmond like Meiten, Chef Hung Aberdeen Centre, and Joyful Congee.
