Richmond’s Affordable Bao & Chinese Breakfast Spot Quietly Closes After 1 Year

Looks like there is another change in Richmond.

A Bao Time, the bao and Chinese breakfast spot located just steps from Richmond-Brighouse Canada Line Station, has now shut its doors.

We walked by earlier this week and found the interior partly cleared out, signaling that the unit has been purchased and a new concept will soon be moving in.

Back in May, we reported that the 788-sq.ft business had been listed for sale at $388,000.

At the time, the listing highlighted its prime location directly across from Richmond Centre, high foot traffic, and steady customer base.

It was pitched as a turnkey operation where the new buyer could either continue under the A Bao Time brand or take things in a new direction.

A Bao Time first opened in March 2024, offering baos, dumplings, dim sum, and other Chinese breakfast staples at affordable prices.

The shop also sold frozen versions of their items, making it easy for customers to bring them home and cook later.

Despite its central location and accessible pricing, the spotโ€™s run was short-lived.

From looking at the latest reviews, it seems the restaurant actually shut down operations in early August.

The team did not post any official announcement on their Instagram account, which has been inactive for over a year, making this another quiet closure in the cityโ€™s food landscape.

A Bao Time now joins other recently closed Richmond food spots like Chengdu Spicy Restaurant, Tastii Studio, and Ember Indian Kitchen.
