South Granville has a new poke spot, and it is not starting from scratch.
PokeAye, the Asian-fusion poke bowl chain that built a loyal following in Richmond, has opened a location in Vancouver’s South Granville area.
PokéAye has moved into the former Momono Tea Shop unit, giving the space a fresh reset.
The spot soft opened back in late November.
This is the brand’s first standalone Vancouver location, adding to its existing spots in Richmond and Langford on Vancouver Island.
If you have eaten at the Richmond location inside Empire Centre, you already know what to expect.
PokeAye has made a name for itself with generous portions, fresh ingredients, and a menu that leans heavier into Asian-fusion flavours than your typical poke shop.
If you are the build-your-own type, PokéAye offers BYOB bowls in regular and large sizes, plus other set options for when you want something fast without decision fatigue.
That “pick your base, pick your protein, load up the toppings” format plays well here, especially when you are grabbing food between errands on Granville or heading back to work.
You can keep it classic with ahi tuna or salmon, go spicy with their spicy options, or mix it up with cooked picks like chicken breast and torched SPAM.
There are also a few choices that feel more “treat yourself,” like shoyu-marinated tuna, plus surf clams or flame-seared crayfish as premium add-ons.
Finish it off with toppings that add texture fast, furikake, crispy fried garlic, and roasted sesame, then go extra with avocado or a soft-boiled egg if you want.
South Granville does not have many dedicated poke options in the immediate area, which gives PokeAye a fairly open lane.
PokéAye’s South Granville opening joins a growing list of recent food changes across Metro Vancouver, including Cotti Coffee, Breka Bakery, and Fresh St. Market (Kitsilano).
