It looks like another beloved food court stall has quietly shuttered.
Back in May 2024, listings for Chef of Dumplings and Shanghai Morning in the Aberdeen Centre food court popped up for sale, but both stalls appeared to carry on business as usual well into 2025.
That is, until now.
On a recent visit to Aberdeen’s bustling food court, we noticed Shanghai Morning, which opened in 2019, was closed during both regular lunch and dinner times.
After checking with adjacent food court vendors and the Aberdeen Centre customer service, it was confirmed that Shanghai Morning has officially closed for good.
Despite having no major online presence to spread the word, this quiet closure is definitely a loss for many Richmond foodies.
Known for their juicy pan-fried pork buns and Xiao Long Bao, Shanghai Morning earned a reputation for serving some of the best Sheng Jian Bao in the city, food court or not, often rivalling full-service restaurant quality.
The food court scene in Richmond has been undergoing a lot of turnover lately, with changes sweeping through spots like Empire Centre, Pacific Plaza, and CF Richmond Centre.
And now, Shanghai Morning sadly joins the growing list of closures in Richmond like Suhang Restaurant, Mama’s Diner, and Potato Corner.
