We first spotted signs of it back in March and now it’s official.
Smart N Save’s Burnaby outpost has grand opened as of May 27, bringing its signature snack aisles and nostalgic Hong Kong-style cafe eats to the Royal Oak neighbourhood.

Taking over a former 7-Eleven on Rumble Street (across from STEM Japanese Eatery), this new location marks the brand’s first grocery + cafe concept.
If the name rings a bell, that’s because Smart N Save has been offering Asian snacks since 2004.
Their OG location at Lansdowne Centre became a favourite for hard-to-find Southeast Asian goodies, affordable prices, and for some, being the quiet alternative to the chaos that is T&T.
Expect shelves here stocked with Instant noodles of all types (yes, even Thai boat noodles), Asian chips, cookies, and snacks galore.
There’s a back wall of cold drinks you won’t find at your average grocery store – everything from Calpico and Pocari Sweat to Japanese teas and unique sodas
There are also several freezers full of Asian ice cream and popsicles in the corner.
But what sets this location apart is the Smart N Save Cafe tucked into the corner.
The café menu is still ramping up, but right now you’ll find: Curry Fish Balls, HK-Style Siu Mai and Waffles – all items that are also available at their Marine Drive cafe.
Likely more snack options like cheung fun (rice rolls) and HK-style drinks are coming soon.
To celebrate the launch of this new location, Smart N Save is offering a storewide 12% discount (excluding hot food) from May 27 to June 8.
That’s the perfect excuse to stock up on everything from soy milk to self-heating braised chicken rice bowls.
Smart N Save now joins the newly opened Hannam Supermarket as the latest addition to the South Burnaby Asian grocery scene.
