The Starbucks x Hello Kitty collection has only just launched, but in Metro Vancouver, items are already popping up on resale platforms at more than double their original price.

Following the recent release, early morning lineups formed at Starbucks stores across Vancouver, Burnaby, and Richmond, with many customers arriving as early as 4 AM to secure the limited-edition mugs, tumblers, water bottles, and plush collectibles.

It coincided with the launch of the holiday ‘Bearista’ glass cup, which also had its stock gone within minutes.

The collaboration marks Starbucks Canada’s first major partnership with Sanrio’s Hello Kitty brand.

It features a curated selection of mugs, tumblers, stainless steel water bottles, and plush collectibles, all themed under the campaign “Together in Fun Forever.”

Demand has been so intense that many of the products are now flooding resale platforms like Facebook Marketplace at inflated prices.

In Metro Vancouver, the boxed Hello Kitty plush that originally retailed for $50.95 is now listed for up to $115.

A ceramic mug with the character’s red silicone bow, once $47.95, is being resold for $80 or more.

Matching tumblers and water bottles are also appearing online at double or triple their original price.

Locally, the rollout mirrored national trends, with limited quantities at each store and no online ordering options.

For those still hoping to score an item at retail price, availability is now limited.

While some stores may see restocks in the coming days, most locations have already moved through their initial supply.
