Sad news for Steveston and Richmond locals.

Win-Win Chick-N, the beloved Filipino fried chicken spot in Steveston, has announced it is shutting down after 8 years of operation.

The restaurant first shared the news on Instagram on January 30th, revealing that their final day of service will be February 4th.

It is a tough loss for the tight-knit Steveston community.

Win-Win Chick-N first opened its doors back in 2018 in a tiny white building that quickly became a neighbourhood landmark.

The Filipino brand carved out a loyal following by doing one thing well.

Their fried chicken, which they affectionately call “chick-n,” was always flavourful and juicy.

The secret was in their process.

All their chickens were fresh, dairy-free, locally sourced, and hand-breaded before being cooked to order right in their kitchen.

There was no frozen product.

No shortcuts.

Just honest, made-from-scratch Filipino comfort food.

Beyond the chicken, the menu had a lineup of fan favourites that kept regulars coming back.

Their french fries were sourced from local farmers, hand-cut and cooked fresh with every order.

The homemade gravy was a must-have addition.

Then there was the sweet Filipino-style macaroni, a nostalgic dish that hit different if you grew up with it.

And for dessert, the Ube cakes were the kind of thing you would tell your friends about.

The brand had ambitions beyond Steveston.

In 2020, they expanded to a second location on Vancouver’s Main Street, opening just before the pandemic hit.

The timing could not have been worse.

That location held on for three years before ultimately closing, leaving the Steveston original as the last standing outpost.

Now, that final location is shutting down too.

But there may be a glimmer of hope for devoted fans.

While the official announcement confirms February 4th as the last day of service, the Instagram post ends with an image that simply reads “goodbye for now.”

That phrase is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

It suggests the brand could potentially make a return down the road.

For now, though, the doors are closing.

Win-Win Chick-N joins a growing list of recently shuttered food spots in Richmond like Bubble Waffle Cafe at Parker Place, Milko, and Villa Vietnamese.
