Sula Brings A Modern Twist On Tradition With New Downtown Vancouver Outpost

Downtown Vancouver’s West End hood has recently seen a lot of changes.

Many new spots have come into the area and many have left.

The newest tenant in the area will be making the neighbourhood even more delicious as Sula Indian Restaurant opens its brand-spanking new location on February 28, 2024.

Since opening its doors on Commercial Drive in 2010, Sula has become a cherished part of Vancouver’s dining scene.

The new Davie Street outpost will be the brand’s third Vancouver location.

Located just a couple blocks from English Bay Beach, this spot is bringing its modern and award winning Indian cuisine to the area.

Meet Executive Chef Balvant “Bal” Ajagaonkar, the culinary wizard at Sula Davie Street.

Chef Bal discovered his passion for food at 15 and has been dazzling the culinary world ever since, bagging four gold medals at the Great India Cooking Competition in Mumbai.

Compared to their other two locations, Sula’s new Davie outpost is more modern and sophisticated. It is a sight to behold!

Walking in you’ll be met with a striking colourful stained glass elephant, a symbol of strength and good luck.

The ceiling is hung with lush greenery and unique circular lights that complement the mustard yellow and navy blue seats and black marble tables.

Sula’s menu is a blend of cherished family recipes and modern flair.

From flakey Murgh Tarts to the Aagri Zinga and Kashmiri Lamb Chops, each dish is a tribute to India’s rich culinary heritage. Chef Bal’s personal favourite, the Malvani Fish Curry, is a must-try, offering a taste of his hometown with every bite.

Don’t forget about the drinks!

The cocktail menu, curated by the acclaimed Jeff Savage (winner of World Class Canada Bartender of The Year 2019), brings Indian flavours to the forefront.
