Sushi Lovers Opens Larger New Richmond Location With Cat Themed Decor

Sushi Lovers opened its massive second location at 8119 Park Road on October 29, tripling its size from the original Blundell restaurant.

The new One Park building spot across from Richmond Centre features cat-themed artwork, pink sakura trees, and an open kitchen where diners can watch chefs preparing the family-run restaurant’s signature Aburi sets.

It’s finally here!

Richmond’s long-awaited new sushi spot has officially opened its doors.

After months of construction and delays, Sushi Lovers has soft opened its brand-new location at the One Park building across from CF Richmond Centre as of October 29.

Back in January, we reported that the beloved mom-and-pop Japanese restaurant was set to expand into a much larger space, nearly tripling its size from the cozy Blundell original.

The new restaurant now seats several times more guests, and the extra space has been used to create a uniquely charming interior.

Walking in, you’re greeted by a mix of playful and moody aesthetics.

A giant sushi-themed character statue and pink sakura trees welcome guests.

Meanwhile, the rest of the space is sleek and dark: black walls, booths, tables, and floors.

The theme is contrasted and comes to life with a large amount of cat-and-sushi artwork displayed throughout the restaurant.

Plus, sushi plushie pillows placed at each booth that guests can snuggle up with (but not take home).

An open kitchen stretches along one side, letting diners watch the sushi chefs in action.

The menu is extensive, covering everything from sushi rolls and sashimi to donburi, tempura, udon, and party trays.

It’s the kind of menu that makes you want to come back multiple times just to try everything.

During our visit (anonymously as usual), the server recommended two of the most popular dishes: the Aburi Lovers Set and the BC Blazer Roll.

Both are popular orders from the original Sushi Lovers location and they delivered on flavour and presentation.

While our friend’s pick, the Cream Corn Croquette appetizer, surprised us in its tiny size but its nostalgic, Japanese cream soup-like taste and crispy shell made up for it.

The new location also comes with a nice perk: parking.

The One Park building has its own lot, and you can skip paying for parking by giving staff your license plate number.

For now, the lot is rather empty. But that may change once Sungiven opens in the complex.

Sushi Lovers has always been a family favourite for its fresh sushi, generous portions, and decent pricing.

And now, with this new, larger location, there’s finally enough room for everyone to enjoy it.

Sushi Lovers now joins other recently opened Richmond food spots like 100E Fruit, Drama Hot Pot, and Blooming Spice Fish House.
