Sweet Thea Bakery Soft Opens Its New and Spacious Location on Main Street

Last updated:

For enthusiasts of independent bakeries, the recent soft opening of Sweet Thea at their new Little Mountain Riley Park neighbourhood is delightful news!

This marks a significant expansion from their previous homey storefront further down Main Street, which first welcomed patrons in 2021.

Sweet Thea’s journey began over a decade ago when co-founders Thea and Laurie started offering their European artisan baked goodies at various markets throughout BC.

However, the pandemic forced them to pivot and hold pop-ups during the holiday season.

The success of the pop-up led to Sweet Thea’s dedicated storefront on Main Street in 2021. This location quickly became a beloved spot in the community.

The newly opened venue on Main Street is a notable upgrade, boasting a much more spacious and modern interior.

One of the highlights of this location is its open kitchen, positioned on the far right, allowing locals to witness the magic firsthand.

The bakery features a large counter with two pastry cases, brimming with an array of freshly baked goods each day.

The pastry case is a treasure trove of choices, ranging from lemon tarts and cream puffs to macarons, twice-baked almond croissants, green eggs and ham breakfast buddies, pesto focaccia, and even vegan southwest cornbread.

Distinguishing itself from the previous Main Street site, the new location offers coffee, specifically from 49th Parallel Coffee, similar to their Tsawwassen Quay branch.

Additionally, akin to their Tsawwassen outpost, the store includes a dedicated wall showcasing a variety of products from local brands.

The new location also has ample seating, accommodating around 25 guests indoors, supplemented by a quaint set of patio chairs outside.

For the convenience of the locals, the new Sweet Thea location operates daily from 7 AM to 7 PM.

With the arrival of Sweet Thea, the Little Mountain Main Street area has a plethora of options for locals looking for coffee, baked goodies, and a spot to lounge around in!
