Chocolate lovers, this one’s for you.
We spotted signage for Läderach, the iconic Swiss chocolate brand, up at CF Richmond Centre beside the LEGO store – marking its first-ever location in Western Canada.
If you’re unfamiliar with the name, here’s why you should be excited: Läderach has been perfecting the art of fresh chocolate since 1962.
What started as a small chocolate factory in Glarus, Switzerland, has grown into a globally recognized brand found in more than 20 countries.
While the brand already has 4 locations in Ontario, this Richmond opening is its first step into BC.
Läderach is most famous for its FrischSchoggi (short for “fresh chocolate” in Swiss German), which are large handcrafted slabs of chocolate studded with high-quality ingredients.
When you order a FrischSchoggi, you’ll see staff take the slab and hand break it into a piece and wrap it up for you.
There’s a variety of flavours available like Matcha Fusion White-Dark, Edelweiss Raspberry Blackberry White, and Caramel Salé Milk-Dark.
Every piece is rich, balanced, and made fresh daily with no preservatives.
And that’s their whole ethos: freshness.
Their chocolate is crafted entirely in Switzerland using carefully sourced, natural ingredients.
Everything, from bean to bar to final hand-finished creation, is managed in-house.
Beyond their slabs, Läderach offers a full range of chocolate delights like truffles, pralinés, tablets (which are chocolate bars), chocolate-covered almonds and walnuts, and more.
There’s no official opening date just yet, but the signs are up, and it looks like they have posted hiring listings since late April.
So if we had to guess, a summer opening is likely.
Läderach will be joining other upcoming food spots in Richmond like Cotti Coffee, Miku, Kinton Ramen, %Arabica, and more.
