It looks like the farewell party for Cafe & Life Co. was a little premature.
Just a month after we reported that the popular cafe had quietly shut its doors, the story has taken a sharp turn.
If you walked by the unit on West 7th Avenue recently, you might have noticed the lights were off and the doors were locked.
Fans of the brand were left with only the Richmond flagship location to get their fix.
However, a Noms Magazine community member (@estherysli) spotted a new update that changes everything.
A fresh “Opening Soon” notice has appeared on the front door, confirming that the closure was temporary.
According to the signage, a “New Franchise Partner” has taken over the location and is working behind the scenes to bring it back to life.
The best part? You won’t have to wait long.
The notice explicitly states that they plan to reopen “by Christmas”.
For those worried that the new owners might change the concept, the sign offers some reassurance.
It promises the return of the “same cozy vibes, handcrafted drinks, and warm community spirit” that made the spot a neighborhood favorite.
Cafe & Life Co. first opened near Broadway and Cambie back in November 2021.
It was known for its modern aesthetic, cozy atmosphere, and signature treats like croissants, coffee, and tiramisu.
In October 2024, the brand expanded with a much larger and even more stylish outpost in Richmond, marking a big milestone for the growing cafe.
It is a rare “Christmas Miracle” for the local coffee scene, which has seen a string of closures recently.
