If you tried to do your grocery run at the T&T Supermarket in the ORA development this weekend, you were likely met with a nasty surprise.

Shoppers arriving on Friday, November 28th, found the sliding doors locked and the lights off.

There was no major announcement leading up to this.

Instead, a simple paper sign taped to the door delivered the bad news.

It states that the store is “permanently closed effective Friday, November 28, 2025”.

The notice cites a “strategic review of how we can best serve our customers in the community” as the reason for the shutdown.

The sudden nature of the closure has left the neighbourhood in shock.

According to chatter on local social media, even some staff members were allegedly caught off guard by the immediate timeline.

However, for those of us who track the local Richmond grocery scene, the writing has been on the wall.

This location, which first opened in 2014, has always struggled with a notorious parking situation compared to its siblings.

It was also competing directly with the massive T&T flagship at Lansdowne, which is just 1.4km away.

Having two locations so close together likely didn’t make financial sense anymore.

This closure is also fanning the flames of a major rumour that has been circulating for over a year.

Locals have been whispering that T&T is planning to open a new location at the redeveloped Richmond Centre.

Closing this smaller, older unit would free up resources for a mega-project like that.

For now, though, the loss stings for the locals who loved this specific spot.

It was known as the “introvert’s T&T” because it was significantly less chaotic than the Lansdowne or Yaohan locations.

The unit now sits empty, joining a growing list of closures in Richmond including BenGong’s Tea at Yaohan and Fresh Note Market.

We will be watching closely to see what takes over this prime retail space next.
