Some pretty sad news hitting the Mount Pleasant scene.

Bar Susu, the beloved natural wine bar and late-night haunt known for its creative plates and cool vibes, has officially announced it’s closing its doors permanently.

Their last day of service will be Friday, May 30, 2025.

This one stings a bit.

Since popping up (literally, it started as a temporary thing back in 2022), Bar Susu quickly became a go-to spot, snagging awards like Gold for Best New Restaurant in the 2022 Vancouver Magazine Awards and landing on the inaugural Michelin Guide recommended list.

Part of the Boxset Collective (the team behind Published on Main, El Gato Gab Gab, Mama Said Pizza Co., and Twin Sails Brewing), Bar Susu navigated a lot – a pandemic, a fire, a relocation – carving out a unique space known for great natural wine, playful cocktails, and seriously good small plates.

But they’re not going out quietly.

For their final weeks (operating Tuesday through Saturday until May 30th), Bar Susu is digging into the archives and bringing back a rotating list of some of its most iconic dishes and drinks.

Get ready for potential sightings of crowd-pleasers like versions of the legendary Honey Cruller, the Sablefish with Tom Kha Sauce, those addictive Crispy Cheese Bites, and the Dinosaur Kale Salad, plus other sleeper hits from menus past.

Consider it a greatest hits farewell tour.

If you want one last taste (or several), you better get on it.

Reservations are highly encouraged for these final weeks.

It’s always a bummer to lose a spot that brought something unique to the neighbourhood.
