Finally, some food news that isn’t a heartbreaking closure.

Shoom Restaurant, a beloved traditional Chinese eatery that’s been serving Vancouver since 2015, is officially moving, but not too far!

On July 18th, the team announced via Facebook and Instagram that they’ve closed their Fraser Street location as they prepare to relocate to Victoria Drive and 41st.

Their message to diners was short and sweet:

“Exciting News! Shoom is relocating to Victoria and 41st and will be open for lunch (dim sum) and dinner!!!! Fraser location is now closed as we transition to the new location! We hope to open by August 1!”

That Fraser space has been home to Shoom for nearly a decade, and it’s safe to say many locals have a story or two tied to that back banquet room or casual dinner visit.

So, where exactly is Shoom going?

Thanks to a tip shared by Eva Eva on a local Chinese Facebook group, we now know that the restaurant is relocating to 5763 Victoria Drive.

That’s the former home of Shun Fa Noodle House.

If that name rings a bell, it’s because Shun Fa quietly closed a while back for “renovations,” but this new development suggests that Shoom is taking over for good.

As for Shun Fa?

Their team has already moved on to new things, recently opening a Chinese dessert spot along Kingsway that shares space with Matcha Corner.

There’s no exact reopening date for Shoom yet, though they’re aiming for around August 1.

When they do reopen, they’ll be offering both dim sum and dinner service, which is a welcome upgrade for fans who’ve been craving more daytime options.
