Commercial Drive just lost a fish and chips staple.
The Fish Counter quietly announced on July 16 via Instagram that its Commercial Drive location has officially closed its doors.
But don’t worry, this isn’t goodbye forever.
The brand shared that they’re in the process of relocating, writing:
“Our Commercial Drive Location has officially closed for now as we prepare to reopen at a brand-new spot soon! Thank you to everyone who made that space so special. We can’t wait to welcome you to its new home (details coming soon!).”
For now, fans of their Ocean Wise-certified fish and chips, hearty chowders, and seafood tacos can still visit their Main Street or Edgemont Village locations.
This Commercial Drive shop first opened in February 2024, expanding the brand’s footprint into East Van’s beloved food scene.
And just this past March, they brought their sustainable seafood concept to North Vancouver too.
They haven’t confirmed if they’ll be returning to the Drive.
As for what’s moving in?
A sign on the window reveals Pho 37 is taking over the unit.
The local Vietnamese chain has been on a roll lately, and this would mark their fourth outpost across Metro Vancouver.
The Fish Counter on Commercial Drive joins a growing list of recent Vancouver food closures like Grab N Go, Penang Bistro, and Hululu.
