Downtown Vancouver Hidden Gem To Shut Down After 25+ Years

Vancouver food lovers are in for a bittersweet farewell as a long time spot is shutting down.

Yup we’re talking about Cottage Deli, a cherished staple of the community, is closing closure after more than 25 years.

The closure news was shared on Instagram by the Gastown BIA earlier this month.

According to the post, the mall where Cottage Deli is located is preparing for redevelopment.

Cottage Deli has been run by two elderly cousins Carlos and Peter for more than 2 decades.

Inside is a cozy cottage-esque lodge that is homey and cozy.

It was a cozy spot where you could also look out and see the panoramic view of the North Shore mountains, Canada Place in the distance, and the train or cruise ships entering Waterfront.

Although the spot was a hidden gem, locals and visitors were delighted with Cottage Deli’s homemade hearty soups and Reuben sandwiches.

When you look at the reviews of the spot, you’ll find many people describe Cottage Deli as some good ol’ old hospitality.

@nomsmag 😯 Was always curious about this Gastown cafe for over a decade. We finally hopped in to see what’s inside and was amazed by the incredible view it has on the second floor. Aside from that view, the cafe itself was cozy and a sense of peacefulness – something that you dont get in Downtown. Add in that nice hot chicken noodle on a chilly day and we were all set here. #yvrfoodie #vancouver #downtownvancouver ♬ Everybody Wants To Rule The World – Single Version – Tears For Fears

Although there is no announced closure date, this may be the last time you’ll be able to experience this spot for good.

So don’t miss your chance to experience this Gastown gem that has warmed hearts for the past 2 decades!
