Itโs never a good sign when you spot a closure notice slapped on a restaurant door.
And it seems another popular hot pot restaurant has been forced to shut its doors after a routine health inspection uncovered multiple serious infractions.

Liu Yi Shou on Robson Street, part of the global Chongqing-based hot pot chain, was inspected on August 27, 2025.
And the results were not good.
Inspectors flagged six critical infractions and four non-critical infractions under the Food Premises Regulation, leading to a closure order being issued on the spot.
The report shows inspectors found the restaurant was not maintaining the premises in a sanitary condition.
It noted โpremises is not in adequate repair or in sanitary condition,โ with issues such as inadequate lighting and ventilation and even equipment being stored improperly.
Food handling was also flagged.
Inspectors wrote that food was:
- not protected from customer contamination,
- not stored in a manner that promotes cross-contamination, and
- not properly covered and protected.โ
Potentially hazardous food was found not to be stored at the correct cold temperature of 4ยฐC or below.
Serious cleaning and sanitizing issues were also cited.
The report states โequipment, utensils and/or food contact surfaces are not maintained in a manner that prevents contamination,โ and sanitizer was either not present or not used properly.
On top of this, inspectors identified signs of both rodent and insect activity inside the restaurant.
This was listed as a major violation under the requirement that premises be free of pests.
Other concerns included staff not maintaining proper hygiene, failure to monitor sanitizer levels, and failure to keep proper temperature records for food safety.
The closure order requires Liu Yi Shou to deep clean, sanitize, remove all pest activity, discard contaminated food, and schedule a re-inspection before reopening.

For context, any place where food is prepped or served to the public โ be it a restaurant, butcher shop, or even a temporary festival food stall โ is regulated under B.C.โs Food Premises Regulation and Food Safety Act.
If serious infractions are found or persist uncorrected, a Public Health Inspector has the authority to shut down the business entirely.
Several of the infractions from the August inspection were also evident in an April inspection, meaning that things weren’t entirely fixed.
The Robson Street outpost opened back in 2016 and has strong online reviews – sitting at 4.7 stars on Google.
There is no timeline for reopening yet.
For now, Liu Yi Shou fans will need to wait until the restaurant passes its next inspection.
