Downtown Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood has been seeing a lot of changes lately, with new restaurants opening and old favourites closing their doors.
And now, it looks like another longtime spot has quietly shuttered.
On our recent walk through the downtown core, we spotted JoongWon, a Korean Chinese restaurant that first opened in 2017, all covered up and seemingly closed for good.
This cozy spot, which served up comforting dishes like seafood jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and sweet and sour pork (tansuyuk), has quietly disappeared from the neighbourhood.
Although Ramen Danbo had most of the attention on this block, JoongWon held its own all these years for those craving hearty Korean-Chinese cuisine in a cozy simple setting.
JoongWon’s closure is just one of the many changes happening around this area of the West End.
Across the street, Forage restaurant and the Listel Hotel are also preparing to shut down as part of a redevelopment plan.
Meanwhile, a further down Robson Street you’ll see the newly completed Landmark on Robson building, which will house Aisle 24 and a new rice noodle spot.
Going further down you’ll see the the first Fuwa Fuwa Dessert Cafe in Vancouver gearing up to open.
