It looks like the West End food scene saw another quiet change.
Horangee Sikdang, the trendy Korean restaurant bar with stunning views of English Bay, has closed its doors after only four-ish months of operation.
It was the first BC location from the Toronto based hip Korean restaurant.
We found out about this while browsing Tiktok and saw dailykass’ post showing a new sushi spot, Lucky Sushi Co., that has taken over the space.

According to online reviews, Horangee Sikdang likely shut down around September or October 2024.
The news is surprising, especially considering the decent buzz and reviews the spot had created since its opening in May last year.
Lucky Sushi Co. soft opened in early December 2024 and offers a unique menu that blends Japanese and Korean influences.
The menu includes sashimi, oshi sushi, tapas, and even a curry soup that is often enjoyed in Sapporo, Japan.
Interestingly, dailykass also shared with us that Lucky Sushi appears to be operated by the same team behind Horangee Sikdang.
The new spot features an interior that retains a lively, trendy ambiance with retro signage and beer-barrel accents that contribute to its casual yet inviting vibe.
In short – a great spot to enjoy with friends!
For fans of Horangee Sikdang’s creative Korean dishes, this may feel like a bittersweet transition, but Lucky Sushi Co. will be offering some of those prized dishes in their upcoming izakaya menu.
