The night Vancouver food lovers have been waiting for is finally here!
On October 2nd, the MICHELIN Guide revealed its 2025 selections at the Commodore Ballroom, marking the fourth year of the guide in Vancouver.
The highly anticipated ceremony brought plenty of excitement, with 2 new Michelin stars awarded, 1 new Bib Gourmand introduced, 2 new Michelin Recommendations and a handful of restaurants cut from the list.
One of the biggest announcements of the night was
Sumibiyaki Arashi, which received a one-star recognition. The restaurant, led by chef Pete Ho, has gained attention for his omakase yakitori.
Ever since he opened Sumibiyaki Arashi earlier this year, the restaurant has been packed, with a month’s worth of reservations filled right away.
Another big announcement was Sushi Hyun, a premium omakase by Juhyun Lee, was also awarded a one Michelin Star.
Chef Juhyun Lee was also awarded the Michelin Young Chef Award.
Similar to last year, several restaurants were either demoted or taken out of the Michelin Guide. All of were because they have shut down.

It was not as dramatic as Toronto’s recent Michelin Guide Ceremony.
Toronto’s only 2 Michelin Star restaurant, Sushi Masaki Saito was demoted to one Michelin star, which shocked the city.
The event also introduced 1 new Bib Gourmand.
- Good Thief
Main Street’s Good Thief – which is also partly by the team behind Anh & Chi – has been praised for offering high-quality dishes at excellent value.
