A popular Vancouver pizza shop just expanded.
And nope, it is not a brand new location.
AJ Brooklyn Pizza Joint has officially expanded by taking over the unit right next door, giving one of Mount Pleasant’s busiest pizza spots a lot more breathing room.
If you have ever visited AJ’s, you already know why they needed it.
Since opening in 2017, the East Broadway shop has become one of the most talked about places in the city for true New York style pizza.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Vancouver, the team has always called themselves die hard pizza people.

With pizza like that, the crowds kept coming. And eventually, the demand became more than the tiny original space could hold.
Owner AJ Caridi says the team had been thinking about expanding for a while, but not in the way many fans expected.
Instead of opening another location across the city, they wanted to grow right where their roots are.
The original space regularly saw two hour waits.
There simply were not enough seats to handle the constant flow of regulars and new visitors who showed up for slices and Detroit squares.
By taking over the unit next door, AJ’s added thirty new seats and fun bar stools, finally giving the community more room to enjoy a meal without the long waits.
But the new space is more than just extra tables.
AJ says the goal is to give people a place to connect, unwind, and enjoy good pizza together.
The added room now allows for private bookings, live sporting events, and a more comfortable dine in experience for families, friends, and regulars.
They have also added HD TVs and a new sound system for game nights.
The atmosphere switches between cozy and energetic depending on the night.
It is intimate enough for date nights, but also big enough to get loud when the game is on.
The team also hinted that more ideas are already in the works, but they are not sharing details just yet.
For now, they are focused on celebrating this new chapter with the community that helped them grow.
