We have to share some sad news as we approach the end of the year.
Straight & Marrow, a beloved eatery and cocktail bar in Vancouver’s East Village, has announced that they will be closing their doors.
Their final service will take place on Saturday, December 21st.
Located on Powell Street, Straight & Marrow first opened on July 2020, during one of the most challenging times for the restaurant industry.
Despite the hurdles of launching during a pandemic, the restaurant quickly carved out a niche and a high 4.8 star rating on Google.
This is all thanks to the innovative vision of Chef & Owner Chris Lam and his dedicated team.
Chef Chris, a fourth-generation chef and restaurateur, brought over 12 years of culinary experience to Straight & Marrow.
A graduate of Vancouver Community College’s Culinary Program, Lam honed his skills at renowned establishments like Provence Mediterranean Grill and Gastown’s Nuba.
At Straight & Marrow, he championed a sustainable, nose-to-tail dining philosophy, turning overlooked cuts of meat into creative and delicious dishes.
This meant seeing offerings like Chicken Skin Waffles with Fried Gizzards and Korean Beef Heart Tartare, which showcased his ability to transform unusual ingredients into memorable culinary experiences.
In their heartfelt Instagram post, the Straight & Marrow team shared their gratitude for the last 4.5 years.
While this chapter is coming to a close, the team hinted that this isn’t goodbye but rather a “see you soon,” teasing exciting plans for the future.
For now, they invite guests to join them one last time before they shut down December 21st to raise a glass and create one more memory together.
