Some sad news to share as an oldie-but-a-goodie restaurant has shuttered.
Grub on Main Street, a beloved neighbourhood spot that served the community for the past 17 years, has closed its doors for good.
In early October, Grub announced the closure on their social media, expressing heartfelt thanks to all their customers for the years of support.
Their last day of service was October 28th, marking the end of an era for this cozy, home-style gem.
If you weren’t familiar with Grub, they were known for their home-style cooking using the freshest local ingredients to create dishes that blended flavours from around the world.
They offered both vegan and non-vegan options, always delivering good portions with simple yet top-notch execution.
Their Halloumi French toast and Sablefish with sweet pea purée were standout favourites for many locals.
Grub also offered a charming backyard patio, perfect for enjoying a laid-back summer brunch.
For years, it had been a spot where people gathered for comfort food done exceptionally well, making it a mainstay in the Main Street community.
While the announcement didn’t specifically say why the restaurant closed, the post included an image of a lucky cat flipping the middle finger, hinting that it wasn’t entirely the owner’s choice.
Unfortunately, for many longtime restaurants, the culprit has been exorbitant lease hikes that have forced them to shutter.
Possibly Grub may have faced the same fate.
