It’s been a tough stretch for longtime food spots in Vancouver.
And sadly, another one has just shut down.
We recently spotted Bob Likes Thai Food on Main Street, all covered up, with a closure notice taped to the door.
According to the sign, the longtime Thai eatery officially closed its doors on July 1st, 2025, marking the end of over 15 years in business.

The heartfelt note from owner Tai Keattivanichvily thanks their staff, loyal customers, friends, and family for their support throughout the years.
While the sign doesn’t reveal the reason for the closure, but many recent long-standing restaurant closures in Vancouver have been due to lease hikes, retirements, or redevelopment pressures.
Bob Likes Thai Food stood out not just for its interesting catchy name, but for its cozy atmosphere and bold, home-style Thai dishes.
The spot was known for nailing the classics like Pad Thai, green curry, and tom yum, but also featured unique menu items like Bob’s Fish and Chips, a Thai-inspired take on the comfort staple.
Their philosophy was simple: to serve Thai food “just as Bob likes it”—genuine, flavourful, and warm, like a home-cooked meal.
Over the years, the restaurant built a loyal following in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.
Its closure now joins a growing list of sad goodbyes, including other legacy spots like Zefferelli’s, Pizzeria Farina, and Ma Dang Goul.
