Well, it’s official.
Remember back in December when we spotted the Commercial Drive location of Hem377 listed for sale?
For months, we’ve noticed the unit closed whenever we passed by.
Well, the unique Vietnamese specialty cafe has now confirmed it’s permanently closed that outpost.
Hem377 shared the news via an Instagram post on April 25th, stating simply, “We’ve officially closed our Commercial Dr location.”
Known for its modern Vietnamese drinks like the Ube Latte and Pandan Drip, Hem377 quickly built a following at its original Victoria Drive spot before expanding to Commercial Drive in November 2023.
While the OG location channels Saigon street vibes with its bright plastic stools, the Commercial Drive spot aimed for a “museum of memories” feel, paying tribute to Ho Chi Minh City’s culture.
In their closure announcement, the Hem377 team got real about the reasons: “This wasn’t an easy decision. We poured our heart into that space, but with high operational costs in this economy, it became impossible to sustain both locations while keeping the quality and care we believe in.”
They also confirmed this directly to Noms Magazine, stating, “Yes, we’ve officially closed the Commercial Drive location due to high operational costs. All outstanding rent has been settled, and the unit is now listed for sale.”
It’s a bummer for Commercial Drive locals who enjoyed the unique space and drinks.
So, what’s next?
Hem377 is putting all its energy back into where it started.
They shared with us that “We’re now fully focused on our flagship store… which continues to grow and serve the local community. It’s where we’re investing our energy and resources moving forward.”
While it’s sad to see the Commercial Drive experiment end, fans can still get their Pandan Drip fix over on Victoria Drive.
The Commercial Drive unit itself, as previously reported and now re-confirmed, remains on the market for a new tenant.
