The West End’s only jungle hideaway has officially gone dark.
After just two years of operation, Jungle Room, Vancouver’s first jungle-themed cocktail lounge, has quietly shuttered its doors.
There was no “goodbye” post on their main feed.
There was no press release sent to local media.
Instead, the closure happened with a whisper.
According to a report from VIA, a Jungle Room staff member shared on their personal Instagram story that the final night of service was October 19th.
Since then, the reservation system on their website has been completely shut off.
It is a sudden end for a spot that tried hard to be different.
Opening in April 2023 in the former Dover Arms pub space, Jungle Room was designed to transport guests out of the West End and into a lush, green sanctuary.
It was known for its dark, moody aesthetic, heavily curated wines, and a unique fusion of Indonesian and Japanese street food.
Although their Google Business profile still tags them as “Open,” customers showing up to locked doors say otherwise.
This week, we spotted new window signage teasing that something new is coming to the space.
Although the signage didn’t specify who was taking over, we eventually discovered who was moving in.
We can now confirm that Miraas, a high-end Persian restaurant from West Vancouver, is taking over the space.
The team behind Miraas recently posted a “Coming Soon” announcement for the location, promising a “refined” and “exclusive” menu for the downtown crowd.
If you haven’t visited their original Ambleside location, Miraas is known for blending authentic Persian tradition with modern culinary artistry.
Jungle Room now joins a growing list of notable recent closures in Vancouver, including The Ellis, Mojo Cantina Izakaya, and Bar Haifa.
