One of Vancouver’s oldest ramen shops is celebrating a major milestone this week.

Kintaro Ramen, the beloved West End ramen spot that first opened its doors on Denman Street back in 1999, is officially turning 25 years old.

Known for its large, hearty bowls and old-school atmosphere, Kintaro has been a longtime favourite for locals and tourists craving authentic Japanese comfort food.

If you’ve ever stepped inside, you know it’s the definition of a classic ramen joint — tight space, steaming pots of broth, and an unpretentious setup that feels straight out of Japan.

It’s a place where the focus has always been on the food, not the frills.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Kintaro is hosting a special one-day event on Saturday, October 11.

For the celebration, Kintaro will be offering an incredible deal: their signature Miso Ramen for just $5 and a side of three-piece Gyoza for $2.

It’s a simple but fitting tribute to the dishes that have kept the shop going strong for a quarter century.

The event is card-only and will serve just those two items, no custom orders this time.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and once the soup runs out, that’s it for the day.

Expect a line, so make sure you’re dressed for the weather.
