After a short delay, Doe Coffee’s second Vancouver location has officially opened its doors along Clark Drive in Strathcona.
The new cafe marks a major milestone for the beloved Hastings Sunrise brand, which has quietly built a reputation for its buttery croissants, handcrafted coffee, and clean, minimal aesthetic.
For those who may not know the backstory, Doe Coffee first opened during the pandemic under the name Penny Royal Cafe before rebranding in 2022.

The Strathcona location sits in a new building on Clark Drive, featuring a stunning design that balances warmth and modernity.
The space opens up with tall ceilings, curved lines, soft white walls, and wood accents that create a calm, sunlit atmosphere.
A signature orange half-moon behind the counter glows with Doe’s deer logo, adding a touch of playfulness to the serene interior.

You can grab a seat by the front windows or relax in one of the cozy wooden nooks tucked along the wall.
Like its original shop, Doe Coffee continues its no-tipping model here, with a sign by the counter reading “Skip the Tip, Enjoy the Sip.”
The team explains that the decision was made collectively, ensuring staff are paid wages that exceed what they’d previously earn through gratuities.
It’s part of the cafe’s philosophy to make great service a standard, not something dependent on tips.

The pastry case remains a highlight, filled with Doe’s beautifully crafted creations like mango passion fruit, ube, and ceremonial matcha croissants, as well as fruit danishes and cookies.
The menu also showcases their signature matcha lineup, including Matcha Strawberry and Matcha Ube lattes, alongside classics like flat whites, pistachio lattes, and hojicha tea lattes.

On the menu is also Avocado Roasted Beef, Ham & Cheese, and
Spinach & Feta Turkey Croissant sandwiches.
Owner and CEO Bin Ni’s mission with this expansion was to create a central hub that not only serves as a cafe but also houses their bakery production space, allowing the team to keep every detail in-house.
Bin says, “At Doe Coffee, everything our customers taste is crafted by our own hands. From roasting our own coffee to baking croissants and loaves in-house, we’ve built a vertically integrated business designed to deliver the highest level of quality and consistency. Nothing is outsourced — we believe every detail matters.”
With this new opening, Doe Coffee Strathcona joins other recent additions to Vancouver’s food scene, including Kuro Katsu, Yunqueen Rice Noodle, and Mojo Cantina Izakaya.
