Another longtime Vancouver food spot has quietly said its final goodbye.
Ma Dang Goul, the homey Korean restaurant located in the West End, officially shut its doors on June 30th after 30 years in the neighbourhood.
The announcement came via Instagram on June 30, where they posted a short but emotional farewell:
“Thank you for all the love and support throughout the years. We will miss you all. 1995 – 2025.”
They were one of Vancouver’s longest-standing Korean restaurants.
Known for its comforting Korean staples and affordable prices, Ma Dang Goul was a beloved go-to for locals looking for warmth and flavour without breaking the bank.
Their $12 kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) was a standout deal and one we previously spotlighted.
On Google, the team explained the heartbreaking reason behind the decision:
“Unfortunately, economic challenges have left us no choice but to close down.”
They went on to thank everyone for the friendships and memories made over the years.
If you take a scroll through their final Instagram post, you’ll find dozens of heartfelt comments from regulars sharing memories of their favourite dishes and family meals.
It’s clear Ma Dang Goul wasn’t just a restaurant, but one that was cherished by many locals.
MDG now joins other recent legacy restaurant closures in Metro Vancouver like Zefferelli’s, Suhang, Pizzeria Farina, and S&W Pepper House.
