It looks like another OG food spot is saying goodbye this month and this one’s going to hit hard for pizza lovers.
Pizzeria Farina, the cozy thin-crust pizza joint on Main Street, has officially announced they’ll be closing their doors at the end of the month, with their last day of service on May 31st.
The heartfelt announcement was made via Instagram on May 13th, where the team shared:
“From the very first pie to the last slice shared at the communal table, we’ve felt nothing but love from this community. To everyone who lined up, brought a friend, or made us part of their routine — thank you. You made Farina what it is.”
Since opening in 2011, Pizzeria Farina has carved out a place in the hearts (and stomachs) of many with its Neapolitan-style pizzas, minimalist interior, and that now-iconic red front door on Main Street.
And yes those adorable heart-shaped pizzas every Valentine’s Day?
Farina made it a tradition.
The restaurant is part of the Kitchen Table Restaurant Group, which is also behind some of Vancouver’s other beloved food spots like Ask for Luigi, Pourhouse, Di Beppe, and Carlino.
But unlike their sister spot La Legna in North Van, which will continue serving the same recipes, just wood-fired, this is a full goodbye (for now) to the original Main Street location.
While the team hinted that they’re not sure what’s next, they’re hopeful this isn’t the end of the story, just the end of a chapter.
This is just the latest in a string of unfortunate closures this May, joining Zefferelli’s, Missing Chopsticks, Ramen One, and more.
May’s turning out to be another rough one for Vancouver’s food scene.
