It looks like one of Vancouver’s most iconic hotels is gearing up for a big change.
The Shangri-La Hotel in downtown Vancouver has closed and is now in the process of transitioning into a new brand.
People online recently spotted a message on the hotel’s homepage announcing the shift, stating that Shangri-La Vancouver would move to new ownership under a “trusted brand” around June 30, 2025.

The message reassured guests that the same team would remain in place and all existing bookings would be honoured.
However, the website and Instagram profile have since been taken down as the transition moves forward.
Adding to the signs of change, locals also noticed that the hotel’s signature lion statues have quietly disappeared, fueling speculation that the rebrand is well underway.
The 62-storey skyscraper first opened back in 2009 and made waves as Shangri-La’s first North American location.
Beyond the five-star hotel, the building also includes luxury residences and office spaces.
According to rumblings online and within the hospitality industry, the building will be rebranded under the Park Hyatt name.
Whether you stayed for the spa, the fine dining, or just admired it from the street, Shangri-La Vancouver played a major role in shaping the city’s luxury hotel scene over the past 15 years.
Its closure marks the end of an era and possibly the beginning of a new one under Park Hyatt.
