A longtime Vancouver spot for over-the-top waffles and ridiculous milkshakes has quietly shut its doors.
First spotted by VIA, Off The Grid Waffle Café on Fraser Street has gone silent both online and in person.
Their social media hasn’t seen a post since April, and a recent drive-by shows the storefront completely covered up.

VIA also found that a business license application for a new Indian restaurant at the same address seems to confirm the closure, making it yet another quiet exit from the city’s dining scene.
Off The Grid originally opened along Kingsway back in 2015 before relocating to Fraser in 2019.
Over the years, the café earned a following for its decadent creations that blurred the line between dessert and very hearty meal.
Their menu was packed with wild offerings like Fried Chicken Mac N’ Cheese, a Chicken Waffle Omelette, a Loaded Nashville Chicken Bowl, and the Oreo Waffle Shake.
Perhaps most iconic of all were their thick waffle milkshakes, a towering spectacle of ice cream, waffles, and whipped cream that made the café a go-to for indulgent cravings.
Fraser Street has seen a string of turnover in recent years and several stores vacant, awaiting redevelopment.
The closure comes as another loss for Vancouver’s playful, comfort-food-forward spots, especially for those who loved piling fried chicken on waffles or sipping milkshakes stacked high with toppings.
Off The Grid Waffle now joins other recent closures in the city, including Saucin Staples, The Halal Guys, and Kibune Sushi Restaurant.
