Today, we share the bittersweet news that Grano Pizzeria, a cherished pizza spot in Mount Pleasant, is saying its goodbyes after 3.5 years of operation.
A Nod to Naples
Grano Pizzeria wasn’t just another pizza joint; it was a slice of Naples in the heart of Vancouver.
Inspired by the pizza marinara’s humble beginnings in 1847, Grano celebrated the art of Neapolitan pizza.
With every hand-stretched dough, locally sourced ingredient, and traditional southern Italian flavour, Grano was Vancouver’s first vegan & vegetarian pizzeria Napoletana.
Grano’s quality was no surprise, considering the family it was the sister spot of the popular Via Tevere Pizzeria Napoletana and Straight Brooklyn Pizza.
On Feb 5th, Grano announced on their Instagram page that they will be shutting down next month.
They acknowledged the hurdles faced, especially in an industry hit hard by recent challenges, Grano extends heartfelt thanks to the staff, customers, and suppliers who’ve been part of the journey.
In a climate in which many restaurants are trying their best to stay afloat, we are disheartened that this is the decision we have to make.

As sad as it may be, the pizza joint did mention that this won’t be the last you’ll see them as they will be back in a different form offering plant-based Neapolitan pizza in the city.
The last day of service will be Sunday, March 3.
