Back in February, our Noms Mag community member (@chungrymood) spotted signs for Burnaby’s Vietnamese spot Chaomami opening a new express location in Downtown Vancouver.
Specifically, they’re taking over the old Xing Fu Tang space right inside Granville SkyTrain Station.
The Chaomami team told Noms Magazine that they’re now ready to open!
Chaomami Express is officially opening its doors for a soft launch on Monday, March 24, running daily from 11am to 7pm.
For those new to the name, Chaomami is the refreshed and rebranded version of Brokenrice, a longtime Burnaby Heights staple that’s been dishing out comforting Vietnamese eats since 2013.
When their mom was ready to retire, siblings Steven and Jennifer decided to keep the family recipes alive.
They revamped the look, renamed the business, and created Chaomami—which means “Hello Mom”—as a love letter to their mom’s home cooking.
The new express concept is all about grab-and-go Vietnamese eats, but with that same heartwarming, made-with-love energy.
During the soft launch, the focus will be on baos and salad rolls, all priced at a very wallet-friendly $4.25.
Expect rotating flavours like lemongrass chicken, crispy pork belly, duck confit, and stir-fried mushrooms with gluten strips.
Salad rolls range from classic pork and shrimp to garlic shrimp, grilled pork patty, and vegan-friendly options too.
For drinks, they’re bringing over some of the best from their Burnaby HQ—Vietnamese salt coffee, pandan coffee, Thai iced tea, strawberry limeade, and more—all for $5.25 a cup.
And the best part?
The team teased that their popular $10 Happy Hour Pho (yes, the same one people rave about in Burnaby) is coming to this location too.
It’s set to roll out mid-April as part of their official grand opening, with Happy Hour running 2–6pm daily.
Chaomami Express joins the growing list of quick and tasty eats downtown—right alongside Jerusalem Shawarma, Cafe Marie, Stackhouse Steak Sandwich, and Caffe W.
