Yaletown’s New Korean Bakery Cafe Permanently Closes After Just 2.5 Months

Well, that was fast…

The second location of a Korean bakery has now shut down after 2.5 months of operation.

Back in May, the Unni Pastries opened its second shop on Hamilton Street, taking over the former Grab n Go unit in Yaletown.

The space carried over much of the charm from their West End location, serving cream-filled brioche donuts in flavours like Berry Cheesecake and Crรจme Brรปlรฉe, alongside matcha tiramisu and baked buns.

It felt like a strong expansion move for a brand that started in 2020 as a delivery-only bakery.

But by mid-July, things were looking less promising.

Despite Google listing the cafe as open, we found the doors closed on multiple occasions.

Thatโ€™s now been confirmed with the location marked as permanently closed on Google Business, though no official statement has been made on Unni Pastriesโ€™ Instagram.

From what weโ€™ve heard, the Yaletown outpost was more of a test run than a permanent plan.

The idea was to see how the brand would fare in the former Grab n Go space.

Unfortunately, it seems the trial didnโ€™t meet expectations, leading to a quiet exit.

The closure leaves their original West End shop as the sole remaining location, where fans can still pick up their beloved airy cream donuts and Korean-inspired pastries.

The Yaletown Unni Pastries now joins a list of recent Vancouver closures that includes Saucin Staples, The Halal Guys, and Kibune Sushi Restaurant.
