We love Josh.

If you follow along his stories, you’ll get why. Unlike most Foodies, Josh doesn’t shy away from being on the other side of the camera. His fun, outgoing, and propensity for bright food patterned shirts makes his Instagram stories a treat (sorry) to watch!

Itsjosheats catapulted into the foodie scene and has amassed a strong presence in just a short time. You’ll find this towering man go the extra mile for the perfect food porn shot. Follow along his Stories and Profile as he hosts you to view what is happening around Vancouver’s food scene.

How did you get started?

[Josh]: I cannot take a good iPhone picture for the life of me (mad props to all of you that do!), so two years ago I decided to whip out the ole family DSLR and really put some effort into uploading food pictures onto Instagram! Piquant Marketing was the first to notice and reach out inviting me to participate in their Virtual Potluck. Through that I met a bunch of foodies including my bff (best food friend) @bitemevancouver who really helped integrate me into the Vancouver food influencer scene!

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Josh]: Lots of colour and lots of personality! I don’t do boring. The wackier and more extreme the food item is, the more I’ll be DYING to try it out! “No food left unbitten” is my motto!

Favourite Food?

[Josh]: Brunch! I’m that basic bitch!

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Josh]: MORE VIDEO CONTENT! I did myself proud this year by producing a short music video for my Instagram, but I want to do more! Maybe some video series! I want to post less, so I can put more effort into what I post.

A post shared by VANCOUVER FOODIE X LIFESTYLE (@domoiscraving) on

We can confirm that Jessica (heyitsjesschan) is a big fan of sushi and close ups of the trendiest food in Vancouver.

If you hop onto her Instagram Story, she’ll take you on her daily food adventures or the behind the scenes of a restaurant media tasting.

How did you get started?

[Jessica]: I actually started with blogging first and then joined the IG scene late. I started posting about my foodie adventures around 7 years ago when I just started dating Phil. We would go out every single day together to get food during our dates. I’m a super forgetful person, so blogging helped me keep track of where we went and what we thought about the restaurant. Ever since working full time, I had less time to blog so I decided to finally start our IG in 2016.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Jessica]: On our IG, you will definitely find our fave finds in Vancouver and our travel food posts.

Favourite Food?

[Jessica]: I am OBSESSED with sushi. If I can only eat one type of cuisine for the rest of my life, it will definitely be Japanese food. One thing I am currently loving is uni. I had a really bad experience with uni before in Vancouver and I never attempted to try it again. Until our recent trip to Japan, we went to this restaurant called Cedros, owned by two young guys who used to live in Vancouver before. On their menu, one of their most popular items is their uni crostini, so we decided to just order it and give it a try. From that moment on, we FELL in love with uni and craved it ever since.

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Jessica]: As some of you may have noticed, I changed my social media handles from @domoiscraving TO @heyitsjesschan. For the year of 2020, I want to branch out from food and start sharing about other topics. Possibly more travel related topics! I definitely want to continue on sharing my travel adventures on Youtube but make it more topic focused rather than just vlogs itself. I can’t wait to let go of 2019 and start creating NEW content in 2020!

3. Purplechives

Don’t let her small stature fool you.

If you follow along Ceci’s (Purplechives) stories, you’ll see her restaurant hopping and multiple rounds of food. But with each hop and each round, you can expect her to expertly capture a table full of food for you to salivate later.

She’s one to watch in 2020!

How did you get started?

[Ceci]: I started in the summer of 2017. I eat out quite frequently – at least once a day – so I figured the best way to remember what I like/didn’t like about a restaurant was to take photos. That evolved to trying to take better photos for IG. The friends I’ve been able to meet because of IG have been such a blessing for me.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Ceci]: I usually post about my favourite eats in the city! Mostly in Downtown Vancouver because that’s where most of my food adventures happen.

Favourite Food?

[Ceci]: Korean, Japanese or Chinese food!

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Ceci]: My goal is to expand my IG into more than just food in Vancouver. I love to travel and I would love to feature more of the restaurants I go to internationally.

4. Pistachiopicks

Brenda (Pistachiopicks) is a curious and cheerful student, Yelp Elite, and baker.

In very Yelp-like fashion, you’ll find her posts more informative and detailed than others. You can also expect Brenda to post about her honest experience to all the places she wanders to in Vancouver and abroad. And as a big food lover, she’ll try to get the story behind a dish whenever she can.

Need a bit more depth and information about whether to try a place? Brenda is your girl in 2020.

How did you get started?

[Brenda]: Food has been part of my identity the moment I learned how to pick up a spoon. Although my Ballet training restricted what I could eat, photographing and looking at food gave me an illusion of “seeing it means eating it.” With my love of food and a pile of photos, I thought Instagram would be an excellent platform to keep track of my favourite foods that make me happy.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Brenda]:My food posts range from being carbilicious, meaty to sophisticated. Close up and colourful is how I like to capture the food. Also, I love desserts and you can definitely find matcha related pictures! I enjoy posting the food I eat on my travels too. So, if you don’t find what you want to see, message me and I will connect you to your foodie dreams.

Favourite Food?

[Brenda]: I am obsessed with anything matcha, sweet and savoury. You can find me scouting for the best of the best in each city during my travels.

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Brenda]: I recently launched my blog that mainly focuses on food in Vancouver. My 2020 goal would be to write about my past trips to Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, and San Francisco and my future trips to Bali and Singapore. From solo guides to my detailed excel spreadsheet itineraries, I hope to make travel for others easy and full of the best food places!

5. Deannawoo

EVERYBODY GO WOOOO!

We’ve been following Deanna (Deannawoo) for sometime now. Here’s what you need to know about her:

  • The unofficial mascot for Church’s Chicken, Earnest Ice Cream, Trafiq Bakery, Pokerrito, Beta5 Chocolates and unofficial Ambassador for Sushi
  • The Pun Girl (read her captions and be blessed).
  • Eats more than a horse and still have more defined abs than you.

If someone calls themselves a ‘self-diagnosed sugar addict’, you know you’re in for a treat when you follow them. Loud, talkative, outgoing, – your 2019 won’t be complete without Deannawoo.

How did you get started?

[Deanna]: I think I didn’t really take Instagram seriously until maybe 2 years ago. I grew up eating 3 main things: my grandma’s Chinese food; McDonalds; and Pizza Hut. I didn’t really start exploring different types of food until maybe my 3rd or 4th year of university.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Deanna]: Dessert. Sushi. Fried Chicken. Bubble Tea. Did I say dessert? I have a huge sweet tooth and I’m pretty sure all of Vancouver knows by now.

Favourite Food?

[Deanna]: I love fried chicken with a passion. But I couldn’t eat it every day. However, ice cream on the other hand, I could. Earnest Icecream to be exact. Ok throw in a slice of Trafiq cake while you’re at it.

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Deanna]: My goal for 2020 is to really invest in the time to get to know other influencers, restaurant owners, and brands. For me, Instagram is a platform to be able to learn about other people rather than just a way to get a free meal. I have so much respect for people on Instagram because it requires so much diligence to Instagram daily and to engage with followers and other people.

6. Pearlthefoodie

Pearl (pearlthefoodie) is a top potato.

She was recently part of Buzzfeed Tasty’s videos to show the world the power of Vancouver food. Not everyone gets the opportunity to put Vancouver on the food map!

Prancing onto her profile you’ll find an elegant collection of the latest food and her personal creations, with soft muted white backgrounds. Her minimal style is a nice break from the colourful explosions or in your face food porn.

How did you get started?

[Pearl]: Almost 3 years ago. Originally had an account where I posted lots of random pics but lots of food, and it annoyed some of my friends so I made another account, made it private and posted all my food photos there as a collection. I eventually made it public and kept posting photos and self-proclaimed myself a “foodie” lol but I’m no expert.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Pearl]: I mainly post solely food photos. I post about everything such as new menu items, recommendations, new finds, dishes from new restaurants, foods from other countries, and obviously gram worthy but not necessarily tasty food lol

Favourite Food?

[Pearl]: If I can only choose one favourite, it’d be Japanese cuisine. Specifically nigiri sushi. I also love ice cream, soft serve, or gelato.

Howard (food_with_howie) may be Vancouver’s bubble tea king.

Hopping onto his Instagram Stories, you’ll find Howard making his daily bubble tea run and dining at unpretentious spots around the city. Because he regularly visits different restaurants, you’ll be sure to discover a new spot to add to your growing food bucket list when you check his stuff.

This is a rising star you need to follow in 2020.

How did you get started?

[Howard]: I started my IG back in April when I had a friend doing a live IG. I had friends telling me to start an IG way before that because I am constantly on Snapchat posting food. My passion for food started when I was young when I watched the food channel everyday with my family.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Howard]: When you land on my page, I aim to post the newest food items and the many great deals that happen in Vancouver. There is a lot of bubble tea post on my page because I love that sucker to death. I also post daily stories to show you my daily life and to keep you engage on what’s happening in Vancouver other than food.

Favourite Food?

[Howard]: I absolutely love bubble tea. I can drink 3 cups easily a day. I love the wide variety of flavours that every store offers and the different type of toppings that you can add to it. Did you know that they now offer oat milk as an alternative and that you can get honey pearls as a topping! The bubble tea hype isn’t dying down yet in Vancouver, it will keep on going!

What your goal for 2020?

[Howard]: My goals for 2020: I want to travel around to at least one or two places outside of Vancouver so I can share with you how their food and culture is like. I’m aiming to travel to at least one of these 5 places this year – Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Chicago, Seattle (I know Seattle is pretty close by so it will most likely happen in the future).

My second goal is to post stories on my page every so often. I love interacting with all of you and I love sharing what happens in Vancouver daily.

My third goal is to try out all the new bubble tea places in Vancouver. We get a new bubble tea spot every month – thus it is my goal to try all of them. There are many other goals and projects up my sleeve so stay tune to that on my page.

8. Stephwants

There are 5 ways to best describe Stephwants: doggo mom; upbeat and colourful; that friend with the best nails; always up for wine and always up for food. This unicorn coloured-hair foodie will give you the detailed run-down of the tasty dishes she consumes around the city or whips up at home. And of course – many cameos of her adorable doggo named Tobiko.

Food lovers must be following Stephwants in 2020.

How did you get started?

[Stephanie]: Growing up in a family full of foodies, most of our bonding time was spent at restaurants so I used to religiously check Urbanspoon or Yelp for new food restaurants to try (this was before Instagram was a thing). Over time, I realized 90% of my pictures were of food and had decent composition so I decided to create an anonymous Instagram to document what I was eating plus a quick review or an extra food fact every once in a while. Being in the foodie scene just happened by chance! After I realized how much I actually love trying new dishes and talking about food, I decided to take the anonymity away.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Stephanie]: Serious food porn & always droolworthy* My blog is my food diary so you’ll find everything from my favourite dishes, favourite restaurants, food tips, to new menus, new restaurants, and noteworthy events. Now that I’ve been taking blogging more seriously, you’ll also find more home-cooking and recipes on the blog! *Bib not included, sorry!

Favourite Food?

[Stephanie]: This is consistently the toughest question I get asked! I love a wide range of cuisines but I’m a sucker for a solid sweet and savoury combination so — Chicken & Waffles, Ketchup Fried Rice + Slutty Egg, Salted Caramel, Foie + Sauternes, the infamous McDonald’s fries + ice cream, Bacon-wrapped Dates to name a few.

What’s your goal for 2020?

[Stephanie]: Stay true to myself, travel more and get better at public speaking! I want to evolve my blog and start focusing more on video content in 2020.

9. Therichwon

How did you get started?

[Rich]: I am the food blogger formally known as teamchomp. In 2015, I turned a pastime into a dream job when I took my love for food + photography full time.

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Rich]: I pride myself on providing a democratic platform that offered a positive, honest look at food in all its glory while keeping my finger firmly on the pulse of the current trends in the culinary world.

Favourite Food?

[Rich]: Anything with noodles

What is your goal for 2020?

[Rich]: I am looking to recreate a true brand with a cornucopia of creative social-media content including photos, videos and podcasts that not only showcased individuals making a meaningful impact throughout the culinary world but also explored the interactions connecting food with family, friends, community and culture.

10. Heyitswing

Aside from always finding Wing (heyitswing) at the table where the wine is, we’re a big fan of watching her local and international food adventures.

Hopping onto her Instagram Stories, you’ll see Wing with the infamous dog filter munching on the latest tasty items. Being someone #welltravelled, Wing brings the insight of whether a certain place is just hype or is actually good. And from time to time, Wing will bless us with her drawing skills – where she’ll amplify the food with her adorable drawings.

Caution: following heyitswing will make you have a major itch to go travel. But if you’re looking to travel in 2020, her page will give you ideas on the best and aesthetic spots to add to your bookmark.

How did you get started?

[Wing]: I started IG in my senior year in high school as a way to share the food and restaurants I liked. It was convenient because I was equally into taking pictures (of anything really) as I was into eating, so IG was the perfect platform at the time. Things really picked up for me when I won the Dine Out For a Year contest in 2013 and started to venture out into the variety of food here in the city. I would say I started taking IG more seriously when I returned from my year abroad last December and had a newfound urge to share with everyone all the good food I enjoyed while overseas. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to attend events and meet more amazing local foodies who I can call my good friends today. It’s crazy to think how much has happened since then but I’m so glad that I’m where I am now!

What can people expect when they follow you?

[Wing]: I guess my IG feed aesthetic could be described as vibrant and and focused – as in, most of my shots highlight one particular dish. Sometimes, you might come across #wingfoodles which is my way of making posts a bit more out-of-the-ordinary. You can find me doodling or animating some of my pictures (which yes, I do myself on Photoshop) – I try to keep things original and interesting 🙂

Favourite Food?

[Wing]: Japanese food has a special place in my heart. Oh and noodles. If you are what you eat, I’m basically a noodle. Ramen, pho, naengmyeon, lo mein, udon, pasta – you name it, I probably love it.

What is your goal for 2020?

[Wing]: My goal is to be more inventive with my posts and selective of what I post about. Whether it’s to venture further into #wingfoodles or animate, etc, I want my platform to challenge me but also keep being authentic to the things I love – aka. eating and traveling!
