24/7 Vancouver Pho Spot Quietly Closes After 10 Years Of Operation

Sadly, another longtime food spot has quietly shut down.

If youโ€™ve ever waited for the 99 bus at Broadway City Hall Station or needed a late-night bowl of pho, chances are youโ€™ve stumbled into Pho Extreme Xu Lua.

The Cambodian Vietnamese restaurant wasnโ€™t flashy, but it earned its reputation for being open 24/7 and always there when you needed it most.

The spot first opened back in 2014, becoming a staple for night owls, students, and anyone in search of comfort food at odd hours.

It wasnโ€™t the type of place you went in with high expectations for service or taste.

But it delivered exactly what it needed to: a hot bowl of pho when you were drunk, hungover, or just needed a table to sit with a friend while life got messy.

Earlier this month, the familiar red Xu Lua sign quietly disappeared.

In its place, a new black sign now reads Hu Tieu Mom Vietnamese Restaurant.

The fresh branding suggests a more modern approach, and their signage indicates they are open until 2AM, partly carrying on the tradition of being an around-the-clock refuge for hungry locals.

The closure marks the end of an era for one of Broadwayโ€™s most dependable late night food spots.

Earlier this month, The Greek Broadway shut down due to the ongoing Broadway Skytrain construction.

It is uncertain why Xu Lua shut down.

But they now join other recent Vancouver food closures like Limegee DT, Nine Dumpling City Square, and Lombardo’s Pizzeria.
