Another spot has quietly slipped out of Chinatown’s revolving Union Street corner.
La Cerveceria, the award-winning Mexican-inspired brewery from North Vancouver, has closed its Chinatown location after about 18 months in operation.

The shutdown happened sometime in March 2026.
There was no public farewell or social media post announcing the final day of operations.
The departure was not a complete surprise though.
CTV News Vancouver reported in January 2026 that the Chinatown space was already up for sale through a restaurant business broker.
La Cerveceria’s exit makes this Union Street corner’s fourth turnover in nearly as many years.
In the reporting, Owner Andrew Doyle shares that the reason for the closure is due to multiple things.
Namely, the lease was set to expire in May 2026 and the $11,000 monthly rent would increase.
He also pointed out the higher costs associated with the patio permits and business licenses.
The taproom continued operating for several more months before the lights officially went out.

The brewery first arrived on Union Street in October 2024 as the second outpost of La Cerveceria Astilleros, the Lower Lonsdale taproom that opened in late 2020.
The Chinatown space leaned into a full taproom format rather than just beer.
The menu pulled together beer flights, margarita flights, Mexican cocktails, tacos, and a rotating lineup of small plates.
The brewery’s Salted Lime Lager picked up gold at the Canadian Beer Awards, which helped put the brand on the regional craft beer map.

The Lower Lonsdale flagship remains open and continues to host the full beer and food program.
Although this unit has seen its share of turnover in the last couple of years, a new operator already lined up to take over the space.
The next tenant is a Mexican-inspired brunch and bakery concept called Loreto.
No opening date has been shared for the incoming spot.
The closure adds La Cerveceria Chinatown to a growing list of Vancouver shutdowns like Popeyes Downtown, Manna Sushi, and La Chuoi.
