Chinese BBQ skewer and hot pot fans, this news is for you!
The Meat Up is officially bringing its all-you-can-eat experience to Burnaby.
We spotted signs for their first Burnaby location popping up along Kingsway, taking over a former O2 Metrotown condo presentation centre.
If you’re not familiar, Meat Up first opened on Granville Street back in 2018, specializing in Chinese BBQ skewers.
But the brand’s story goes back much further—Meat Up originally started in 2005 in Beijing, where it grew to over 50 locations before expanding to Vancouver.
They later opened a Richmond outpost in 2021.
But when they had to shut down their Vancouver location in 2023, they teased that Burnaby was where they were looking to reopen at.
Well, now we know they weren’t bluffing!
Since 2024, Meat Up has taken its concept to the next level with all-you-can-eat Beijing BBQ skewers and Malatang hot pot.
They offer three different AYCE tiers, unlocking more premium options depending on how deep you want to go.
Their hot pot setup is similar to Big Way, featuring a wall of 80-ish fresh ingredients and multiple broth options to customize your bowl.
What sets Meat Up apart is their skewer delivery system—no need to place an order!
Their team walks around with skewers straight to your table, and you can just grab what you want.
Plus, there’s a self-serve station with cold dishes, fried bites, and additional hot pot ingredients to round out your meal.
And to keep things running smoothly, they even have a Hungry/Full sign at each table—flip it to let staff know if you’re ready for more or need a breather.
There’s still little info on what exactly the Burnaby location will offer, but based on their Richmond outpost, we’re betting that you can expect a neon-lit interior, plenty of sizzling skewers, and an interactive dining experience as well.

The Metrotown food scene continues to grow with more and more options.
Now The Meat Up will be joining a stacked street of hot pot and skewer spots.
