Raisu Opens New Retro Bowling Themed Premium Sashimi Bowl Restaurant In Vancouver

Kitsilano’s food scene just got a fun, new addition!

While Richmond has been popping off with many new food spots, Kitsilano has quietly welcomed Toyokan Bowl, a premium sushi bowl restaurant with a bowling alley theme.

Soft opened on October 2nd, this restaurant is brought to you by the Tamaru Shoten Group, the folks behind some of the city’s top Japanese izakayas.

Yup, the same people behind Raisu, Kingyo, New Fuji, Suika, Radjio, and Takenaka.

Taking over the previous Kitsilano Robba Da Matti space, Toyokan Bowl has a retro bowling theme.

The interior is playful yet polished, with bowling pins lining the windows and retro bowling paraphernalia, including a bowling pin-shaped clipboard menu that adds a quirky touch to the dining experience.

The decor features a vibrant green and pink color palette, framed bowling photos, and warm lighting fixtures, making the atmosphere both cozy and energetic.

But it’s not just about the ambiance—Toyokan Bowl’s menu is where the excitement truly lies.

Their standout premium offerings center around beautifully crafted sashimi bowls.

One of the highlights is the King of Seafood Bowl (priced at $70), a luxurious creation featuring a range of high-quality ingredients like sea urchin, lobster, scallop, and yellowtail, all tailored with house-blended soy sauce to elevate the flavours.

And those who have a stacked wallet can go for their $150 “Turkey” Uni Bowl, which is basically a combination of Murasaki, Bafun and a daily selection Uni.

Toyokan Bowl also offers the Grand Ocean & Land Treasure Box ($58), a two-tiered bento-style meal that comes packed with a mix of land and sea delicacies.

And for those who can’t decide, the Today’s 3 Kind of Bowl ($35) provides a trio of the chef’s special selections of seafood bowls, giving a delightful sampling of Toyokan’s best offerings.

Don’t worry – there are more affordable options available, such as the Spicy Salmon and Ikura Bowl and Sesame Yellowtail Bowl, both priced at $28.

Kitsilano residents now have a fresh new spot to enjoy a unique sushi experience that combines nostalgia, top-tier ingredients, and playful design.

If you’re into creative food concepts with a nod to Japanese culture, Toyokan Bowl is definitely one to check out!
