Vancouver’s Only Odd Burger Has Suddenly Shut Down After Less Than 2 Years

Vancouver’s small vegan fast-food scene just lost one of its most visible players.

Odd Burger has announced the end of its only Vancouver location, the Main Street shop that opened with a ribbon cutting less than two years ago.

The team shared the news in an emotional Instagram post, saying the decision followed ongoing issues with its ordering kiosks, online ordering, and a shortage of menu items.

“This marks the end of Odd Burger Vancouver,” the post read.

The closure landed abruptly.

The same notice said the shop was closing for the rest of that day (July 8), then folded in the news that it would not be coming back at all.

That timing caught regulars off guard, and the comments filled up fast.

One follower called it a huge loss and wished there had been a little notice, while another wrote that the closure broke their heart and that it had been their favourite vegan spot in the city.

The post drew hundreds of likes and a wave of goodbyes from other local bakeries and vegan businesses.

The Main Street outpost opened on November 23, 2024, at 2821 Main Street, right next to Maizal.

It arrived with a full grand-opening push, a noon ribbon cutting, dollar vegan soft serve, and limited tote bags for the first 30 guests through the door.

That makes the run here about a year and a half.

Odd Burger is the Canadian vegan fast-food chain that builds plant-based versions of drive-thru classics, made in its own production facility.

The menu leaned on the Famous Burger with its smash-style patties and Famous Sauce, a Crispy ChickUn built from seitan, loaded poutines, and vegan soft serve.

The brand has grown past 16 locations across the country, and Victoria actually beat Vancouver to the punch when its shop opened in August 2024.

None of that scale kept the Main Street location open.

The closure notice pointed the finger at day-to-day operations rather than any lack of support, thanking the community and the staff on the way out.

It is an unusual way for a restaurant to go, undone by kiosks, online ordering, and stock rather than empty tables.

For Vancouver’s plant-based regulars, it removes one of the few spots in the city doing fast food entirely without meat or dairy.

Odd Burger Vancouver now joins other recently closed Vancouver food spots like Trocadero, Kosoo on Robson, and Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba at UBC.
