Popular Burnaby Korean Chinese Restaurant Has Moved, But Fans Say It Feels More Like a Closure

It looks like a well loved Burnaby spot has quietly packed up and moved.

But for longtime fans, the change feels a little different than what the sign suggests.

A Noms Mag community member (@gudfoodnolai) spotted a red notice at 88 Noodle House announcing that the restaurant has officially relocated to the space occupied by 88 Town on Kingsway.

The notice shows a map directing diners to the new address near Hannam, along with a note that the move took effect as of November 15.

The notice frames it as a relocation and expansion, even offering a promo where guests who show the flyer can get free dumplings at the new spot.

But the story behind the move reveals a much bigger shift.

88 Town opened earlier this June in the former On On Wonton House space.

At the time, it was known to be run by the same team behind Masita on Kingsway.

Now it is confirmed that 88 Noodle House is also under that same umbrella.

With Masita also closing and directing customers to 88 Town, it appears everything is being consolidated into one location.

For diners who have been going to 88 Noodle House since it opened in 2020, this change feels bittersweet.

The Burnaby favourite gained a following for its massive portions and decent prices of Korean Chinese comfort dishes like fried chicken, jajangmyeon, and jamppong.

And while 88 Town has a similar menu, several longtime 88 Noodle regulars who have been to 88 Town before say the flavours are not quite the same.

Some believe the relocation announcement is more of a soft goodbye to the original restaurant rather than a true move.

Still, for those craving jajangmyeon or a plate of crispy fried chicken, 88 Town will now be the place to go.

The new space offers more seating, dedicated parking, and room for larger groups.

As for 88 Noodle House, the original location now joins a growing list of Burnaby spots that have quietly transitioned or closed this year.
