Burnaby Taiwanese Wheel Cake Cafe To Shut Down Soon After 3 Years

Sad news for fans of Taiwanese street food!

Jodeen Café, a Burnaby cafe that specializes in Taiwanese wheel cakes, will be closing its doors for good on August 31st.

The café made the announcement on Instagram back on July 31st, thanking customers for their support over the years and reminding anyone with a stamp card or e-gift card to redeem them before the final day.

Opened in 2021 by Jordan Lin and his sister, Jodeen Café brought a taste of Taiwan to Burnaby.

Specializing in wheel cakes—popular street food snacks filled with sweet or savoury fillings.

From classic custard and red bean fillings to more adventurous options like cheese and corn, Jodeen’s menu offered something for everyone.

The café’s name, “Jodeen,” literally means “sweet” in Taiwanese, a fitting nod to the childhood memories that inspired Jordan to open the shop.

After working in various bubble tea shops, Jordan wanted to bring something new to Burnaby’s food scene, and Jodeen Café was born.

Customers could watch the entire process of making wheel cakes through clear plexiglass, making it a fun and interactive experience—much like watching Hong Kong Bubble Waffles being made.

In addition to their wheel cakes, Jodeen Café also served up bubble tea and coffee, making it a go-to spot for a snack or drink, even late into the evening.

As Jodeen Café prepares to say goodbye, it’s a reminder of how fleeting and precious these unique spots can be.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit, now’s the time.

Be sure to stop by before August 31st to enjoy one last wheel cake and bid farewell to this delightful Burnaby café.
